“At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.”
“Oh miss Elphaba, the things one hears these days. Dreadful things!”
That was the line of Mr. Dillamond, the goat professor in the stage musical “Wicked” when he told Elphaba of his concern about the things he had witnessed in secret.
I’ve gotten across some videos that disturbed me a great deal. It bothered me enough to actually pray about them. After that, I was led to more videos that made me realize that I haven’t been paying much attention to what’s happening outside my own very small world.
Not just once did it pass my critical mind—that part of my brain that has always been suspicious and guarded, if I should actually believe these things they are saying. Since I’ve always subscribed to that example of the Bereans in Acts 17:11 that goes, “now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true,” I took the time to research about the things they claim and talk about.
Access to information is at my disposal and since Revelation1:2 says, “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near,” it would be quite beneficial for me to move forward, take heed and listen to what our Lord God is saying.
In the Gospels, Jesus Christ himself spoke of the end times. He warned his apostles in Luke 21:6, “But Jesus said, “As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.”
“Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”
He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”
Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.
“But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. And so you will bear testimony to me. But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. Everyone will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life.
“When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
In the same breath, the entire Book of Revelation speaks of these. We’ve often heard about the word Apocalypse, and that alone sends chills down our spines—that is if we don’t look up what it actually means. But translated from Greek, it simply means a disclosure of knowledge. Thus, it simply means “revelation.”
Why is there a need for disclosure? I guess it’s because a lot were sealed in the past prophecies that can only be interpreted when the end times finally come. For example, Daniel 12:8-10 says, “I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”
He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.”
The Book of Revelation was written by John in the island of Patmos. He was a prisoner there and during his incarceration he received a lot of visions from the Lord about the end times and the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but not anymore as a lamb but as the king of heaven and earth.
Words such as the Beast, the Antichrists, 666 and a dragon with seven heads—all of which are what nightmares are made of, pepper the entire book. Fear about those things is probably one of the reasons why people don’t want to really talk or read about them—even Christian churches fail to preach about the end times, careful not to be labeled as a doom and gloom congregation even though the Bible is 28% prophetic in nature.
But I have often been plagued by the warning given to Ezekiel in chapter 3:17-19,
“Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman to the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from My mouth, warn them from Me. 18″When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 19″Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself.”
Those words keep me from keeping quiet about what I feel should be given attention to. Better be thought off my kilter than be held accountable for another person’s suffering.
If you are interested, it is best to research about the books The Harbinger and The Mystery of the Shemitah by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, CERN, the Blood Moons, the telescope named LUCIFER and the prophecies of Saint Malachy. Look also for Tribulation, the Rapture, and the first Resurrection of the saints. Those were the things I have encountered so far and have given me pause to reconsider what many people are saying. I think it is better to find out the details of these things for yourselves so you couldn’t accuse me of pushing my own interpretations on you.
In conclusion, whether you believe these things or not, if you are a Bible-believing Christian, you couldn’t deny that we have been warned that frightening things are in the world right now and worst things are ahead of us –but so, too, are the great promises that are waiting for those who believe in Jesus Christ. He said in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world,” so there is no reason to worry or be discouraged since He has assured us that He is very much in control. We are told in Luke 21:34-36, “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
If you have any questions about these things, you can message me and I’ll see if I have any answers for you. For now, I pray that our Lord God give us wisdom to know what His will is and that we could pursue His righteousness with eagerness and perseverance. May the Holy Spirit guide us all into all truths, in Jesus’ name.
